Join our Liaison Group

We have set up a Community Liaison Group to ensure we have a direct link between Thrive Living in Chester and the wider community. The group is a crucial part of our engagement with the community during construction to ensure we have regular input and feedback on our plans and initiatives, from the people who count. If you’re interested in being a local community representative on the group, please get in touch to be added to the waiting list.

You can read the Terms of Reference for the Community Liaison Group on the news page. Minutes from previous meetings will also be added here.

If you’d like more information or to put yourself forward to sit on the group please email info@chesterretirementvillage.co.uk or call 0800 689 1095.

Previous Consultation

Our consultation on proposals for the Boughton Heath integrated retirement community started in May 2020 and, following two rounds of consultation, we submitted a planning application to Cheshire West & Chester Council in September 2020. We worked hard to listen to and understand local community views, engaging with residents, stakeholders and community groups to help shape our plans and bring forward a scheme that will benefit the local area.

To find out more about our consultation you can read the documents below:

  • Consultation Report
  • The full planning application can be viewed here (search application reference number: 20/03306/FUL and application reference number for variation application: 22/02075/S73)

Planning Permission

The integrated retirement community was given planning permission by Cheshire West & Chester Council in 2021. We then went back to the Council to make some changes to the plans, increasing the number of apartments from 147 to 155. The café and community spaces were increased and proposed to be in a standalone building. This will include a flexible studio space, a shop, a café and the sustainable transport hub.

To account for this, we’re no longer planning a swimming pool at the village. The same amount of green space and improvements to biodiversity were planned, with the commitment to sustainability remaining, with the village set to be a net zero carbon development. These changes were approved in 2022.
